Bespoke Workshops, Classes & Whimsical Tours of the ARTY kind:
Learn a new skill, re-ignite the passion for an old one & have some fun!

Creative Workshops & Classes of the Arty Kind:
Unleash your inner creative and let the journey begin!

It all begins with an idea.

My idea is to help you unleash your inner creative and have a fun day/afternoon/evening with friends, family or new friends, creating your very own masterpiece to take home. Join me for a guided art session where you will create a picture to be proud of - whatever medium you use or level you’re starting at!

Famous artists may provide the initial stimulus; acrylic (or watercolour) paint and a canvas will collide (in a good way!) and you will have the opportunity to create your very own masterpiece. It’s a chance to get out of the house, meet up with friends (or meet new ones!) and have some fun. No prior art experience necessary and every opportunity offered to unleash your own creativity!

All materials and tuition provided - just bring you! We’ve enjoyed Paint Like Picasso, Pop Art, Alcohol Inks and there’s more …

New Beginnings at Bala Brook: ART & YOGA

Thursday 6th June - Sunday 9th June inclusive

Guess where we’re going??? I’m delighted to tell you that we’ve managed to book 3 nights/4 days of arty loveliness in the tranquil setting that is BALA BROOK in the South Hams, Devon. It’s beautiful! Set in 26 acres of woodland on the edge of Dartmoor, (and yet only a couple of miles from reality!) Bala Brook is a calm, healing space; perfect for relaxation, creativity, connecting with nature, making new friends and enjoying much laughter.

Aimed at complete beginners, of both art and yoga, the workshops will take you step by step through some techniques and allow everyone to learn something new. If you have some experience in either art or yoga (or one of them!) no worries - join us anyway. Pick up some new tips and tricks and allow yourself the treat of time for you!

The Big Picture:

Art: Art workshops will be led by Jayne Ashenbury and will include organised workshops encouraging you to ‘play’ with colour in both new & known mediums. Work at your own pace, learn new skills and get lost in the moment!

Workshops will include:

PAINT - en Plein Air (outside!) in acrylic & watercolour

PRINT - an introduction to mono printing

COLLAGE - with paper and found objects

EMBOSSING - working with foil

DRAWING - pastel, charcoal & inks

Obviously there will be lots of opportunities to paint and sketch in this idyllic environment independently too …

Yoga: Workshops will run daily, led by the lovely Pip Kent and will include time to relax, energise and start a new yoga programme (or develop your own).

Each day there will be some yoga on offer aimed at including yogi’s of different levels … let us know if you’re interested!

Sea Swimming at Bigbury (weather permitting!): The plan is to go to the beach on the first day. There will be an opportunity to swim, partake in some beach yoga and be creative with the scenery … be that capturing the beautiful Burgh Island Hotel, the tiny Pilchard Inn or the seascape overall.

Walking: Take a gentle stroll (or an invigorating jog) around the beautiful land at Bala Brook. The stream runs from the top of Dartmoor and trickles through the land.

Food: 3 delicious, healthy-ish meals will be served each day and there will be soft drinks, morning coffee & afternoon tea snacks available too!

Bala Brook is a vegetarian establishment so no meat or fish will be cooked or served. I promise the food will be delicious - even if you normally eat meat - so here’s a little taster to tempt you …

Breakfast: a help yourself buffet of yoghurt, berries, fruit & granola with toast & toppings! Eggs - dippy or scrambled with toast.
Lunch: a selection of yummy soup & salads, cheese and pickles. Vegetarian burritos.
Dinner: it’s summer so large, vibrant salads will dominate, served with delicious protein dishes that may include Lentil Dahl, mushroom & black bean chilli, crustless quiche and a Mediterranean meze and fresh breads or rice.
(There will be puddings too … watch this space! Ha ha!)

ACCOMODATION:

All rooms can be single occupancy in either a single, double or twin room. A few rooms are ensuite but most will share a bathroom with one other.

The rooms are all great … there’s space for hanging clothes, a chair and a comfy bed with crisp clean linen but you’re asked to bring your own towels. There are 2 large TWIN rooms each with an ensuite if 2 friends fancy sharing - see below! And one large TRIPLE room with an ensuite if 3 friends fancy sharing for a discount - just ask!

Prices include all workshops and activities, meals, snacks and accommodation.

SINGLE ROOM with pot luck ensuite £495.00pp

SHARED TWIN ROOM with ensuite £405pp

DOUBLE BED with ensuite £585.00pp

I hope this covers everything and inspires you to join us on this exciting adventure! Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions and a bookable, non-returnable deposit will be needed asap (and by Wednesday 1st May latest) to secure your place!

field of flowers

Join me for an uplifting morning of art aimed at nourishing both the soul and the stomach, whilst channelling your inner creative!

Be inspired to by the beautiful wild flowers in the the special place that is Mount Edgecumbe! We will meet at the Farriers in the stable yard by the house and take a gentle stroll in the gardens surrounding the house, looking at shape, colour and form. You will be provided with a sketch book to record your observations which we will then use to create a range of flowers using watercolours, inks and pen.

Loose yourself in art and then find yourself enjoying a delicious panini lunch at the Farriers before wending your way home at the end of the workshop.

All equipment and tuition included - as is lunch, with a cup of tea!

I'm booking a lovely sunny day for us all ... but if, by any chance, the clouds decide to drench us, we'll be safe and dry in the Belvedere. Let's hope for sunshine!

Drawing and Exploring Experiences:

Draw and explore the local area with me.

The historic Royal William Yard offers unlimited interest in the form of Grade 1 listed buildings whilst Smeatons Tower is one of the most iconic sights of Plymouth. In fact, our Ocean City is full of potential for artists. Forget the photos and bring out the inks to create your very own, original keep-sake of Plymouth.

I was delighted to collaborate with the National Marine Park again this Spring -following the great success of the BIG BLUE SPLASH in 2022 - offering more opportunities to Draw and Explore along the coastline.
We all enjoyed 4 almost free drawing and exploring workshops at Firestone Bay, Budshead Wood, Mount Wise and Jenny Cliff last spring 2023 … Look out for more coming soon!

Private small group or one-to-one classes available … from £30ph just ask! Email me!
